Thank You To Everyone

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that helped participate and donate to the golf tourney this year. This year's event helped raised over $7,000 for the Zach Stewart Endowed Scholarship at Bates Technical College. Despite having a few less golfers from last year and having some rain showers, we still managed to keep funding scholarships in Zach's name.

We also must extend a huge congrats to our first ever repeat champions: Chris Torrone and Jordan Foster; once again they were able to ride the coattails of two impressive golfers Rob McDougall and John McDougall. Longest Drive went to Olen Stoorsali and Closest to Pin went to David Swanson - coincidentally, both those guys each just had their first babies born just weeks ago - must be something to that. As always, the having the most fun award went to Chris Scheer - pics should be up shortly and the Scheer Princess will be on there.

A special thank you goes out to Ralph & Lib Stewart, for helping put on another great event - everyone seemed to have a great time. Special thanks to Jake Hanson for helping run the day-of coordination, announcing the winners and reminding us why we participate (to have fun in Zach's name). Another big thanks to Mike Welch whose company Thompson Smitch helped match donations for the day of the tourney.

The tournament is nearly upon us. If you have not signed up or paid to play, it may be too late (but it doesn't hurt to ask, we'll see what we can do to get your foursome in).

Save the Date!

It may be pouring down rain now, but in only a few short months we'll be hitting the greens for another day of golf in support of the Zach Stewart memorial and scholarship golf tourney. If you're like me, then you know that training begins now. And, if you're like me, then you know that training entails pulling out the old golf clubs and looking them over with your very own frosty beverage. That ought to do it for this tourney training, because this event is more about getting together with old friends, remembering our good friend, and supporting a good cause.

The date for this year's tournament has been set for July 16, 2011... and we'll be returning to Madrona Links, in Gig Harbor. Further details to come, so get your foursomes ready now. We maxed out last year and had to beg the golf course to add a couple last minute teams, so be prepared with you teams and payment this year.

If you know of a company or organization that would like to help sponsor the event and get some name recognition going, please let one of the organizers know... or simply post on the comments below. We'll make sure to get them involved and let everyone know that they are awesome for supporting the cause.

Bates Scholarship Breakfast

The Zach Stewart Endowed Scholarship committee of Lib & Ralph Stewart, Jake Hanson, Mike Welch and Jordan Foster, just returned from the annual Bates Scholarship Breakfast. The event is put on each year to honor all the donors and congratulate all the scholarship recipients at Bates.

It also gives us on the committee a chance to meet firsthand the recipients of the ZS Endowed Scholarship in the HVAC/R program. This year's recipients were very appreciative of everyone's efforts in supporting this cause and wanted to extend a thank you to everyone that's participated in the Golf Tourney. The scholarship winners are outstanding students and well on their way to graduating and some have already been receiving job offers.

Once again thank you to everyone that participates in the event and helps support the scholarship. We are just beginning the planning for this years event and hope to have everyone out once again.
