Thank You! Congrats!

The tournament was a great success and a big thank you to everyone that made it out this year and help contribute to the Zach Stewart Scholarship Fund. We are still tallying up donations and a few more will be making there way in over the next couple days, but it is safe to say that this has been our best year yet in donations and participants. A huge thank you goes out to our main sponsors of Legends Roofing, Thompson Smitch Consulting, Rainier Connect and Robert and Mo Kirby. As mentioned at the tourney, Thompson Smitch was overly gracious to match all donations made the day of the tournament and we thank you very much for the generous donation.

A huge thank you to Madrona for hosting this year's event... not even a few bee stings could keep us from having a good time (Andy "Bee Sting" Miniger). In total we had over 70 players and particpants. There were some great scores turned in and the overall and adjusted winners were the team of Jake Hanson, Mike Sims, Wade Finley, and Joel Flores with a score of 20 under. Second place was nearly just as good with last year's winners coming in at 18 under (Robert Thoms, John Jolibois, and Matthew Jolibois) - which was also tied with the foursome of Justin Munson, Don Hollingsworth, George Cvitanich, and Beau Towne. Unfortunately for the Munson group they had strokes purchased against them and had to settle for third place.

Longest Drive went to one of the first year's winners John Patterson, who undoubtedly carried Olen Storaali's crew this year, but was not enough to get them on the plaque again. Closest to Pin went to the unexpected Keith Messmer - who claims they have pictures - I guess the Price is Right once again.

A big thank you to all the ladies that made it out this year Alexis Kerns, Cori Fowler, Trina Bergstrom and the Jello Shot girls.

Just a quick reminder the tourney is coming up at the end of this month. Please get your payments in to participate... its real easy:
(1) You can either make out a check for $70 to the "Bates Foundation" with the memo "ZS Golf Tournament" and mail to Bates Technical College, Attn: Emma Ruhl at 1101 South Yakima Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98405.

(2) Or you may also make a credit card payment over the phone by calling Emma Ruhl at (253) 680-7160. I just made a phone payment myself and it took all but 2 minutes, so get on it.

Entry Fee - Winner's Prize!!!

You may not have received any tax breaks this year, but the entry fee for this year's tournament is being shaved by $5.00 from last year's price. The total cost will be $70 per golfer, which comes to $280 for a foursome. The entry fee includes the following: one round of golf, golf cart, and burgers!!! That's a pretty good deal for a round of golf, plus part of your proceeds will be going to help support the Zach Stewart scholarship at Bates, so it's win-win.

*We have also received word that the law firm of Maher Ahrens Foster Shillito PLLC, http://www.mafslaw.com/ will be donating four Gold Club tickets to the Tacoma Rainiers to this year's winning team. Gold Club tickets are prized seats at the Rainiers' games and come with all-inclusive food, drinks, and parking pass.

Welcome! Please mark your calendars for the Third Annual Zach Stewart Golf Tournament. This year we're taking the tournament across the bridge to the Madrona Links Golf Course in Gig Harbor, WA.

For those new to the golf tournament, it serves two purposes. It presents an opportunity for friends, high school buddies, co-workers, mentors and relatives to gather and share memories of our good friend Zach Stewart. The tournament also supports the Zach Stewart Endowed Scholarship Fund. The endowment is part of the Bates Technical College Foundation. Currently, the scholarship is awarded to one student each quarter and helps pay for tuition, books, and necessary tools and supplies for learning their trade at Bates.

We welcome all who would like to join us in supporting this good cause. We also look forward to catching up with old friends and toasting to one of our good friends Zach on the links. If you are interested in putting together a team, please contact one of the members. We are currently working a cost breakdown for individual golfers and foursomes.
